SS POST CARD POLICE IN POLAND

POLIZEI IN POLEN

WAR REPORTER :GEORG EBERT

The postcard series Police in Poland was issued as a War Winter Help to aid the German people in the winter of 1939 / 1940 .

The postcard is a standard size of 4.0 x 5.6 inches ( 10 x 14 cm ).

There is no information regarding the publisher or printer. The name of the photographer is printed on the reverse of each postcard as the vertical text in the center, dividing the card into two sections. The text at the top left reads "Kreigs-Winter-Hilfswerk 1939/40 (War Winter Help Work)"(1 line),Bilder vom Einsatz unserer Polizei im Osten" ( Pictures from the Service of our Police in the East) (2lines with the emblem for the German Police at the left and with SS runes at the right). Underneath this text is a description of the image on the front of the card (2 or 3 lines). Most of the postcards are lithographically printed on a good quality tan base photographic stock (Type I) with letterpress printing on the reverse in black. During our research, a few cards have been seen on glossy white, thinner photographic stock (Type II). They have been evidence both used and unused. There has only been one set of font types evidenced on cards from this series. The presence of the Type II paper and the uniformity of the text would indicate at least 2 printings.  It is possible that this set was printed by two different printers.
