ORIGINAL BRITISH WWII MINE CLEARANCE MARKER.
This one is dated 1944 and has maker mark H.&S. CAT. No.W.A.10764 . H&S stands for Hampton & Sons, a major supplier of canvas and webbing to the British Army in the Second World War.
The numbers are the store's code to identify the item. When a mine was found the mine was covered with these small folding markers.
The white color of the marker helped the clearance team to quickly identify where they needed to check and remove a potential landmine.
It measures about 8 1/2" along the bottom and stands about 7" tall.
The mine marker will fold flat for storage.
