This is a rope pull-through issued by many Commonwealth countries for cleaning the barrel of the Lee Enfield rifle as well as other weapons in .303 calibre.
The rifle pull through - essentialy just a length of cord with hole for cleaning rags, and a weighted brass end to drop down through the barrel. The Lee Enfield rifle had a trapdoor on the end of the buttstock for the rope pull through - as well as a bakelite or brass oil bottle.
