This is also known as the Honour Chevron for the Old Guard. This silver chevron was worn by all members of the SS prior to January 1933 who had joined the NSDAP, Allgemeine-SS or other party organization. This was worn on the right arm upper sleeve.
Later qualifications were extended to include any SS personnel who were members of the Wehrmacht and Polizei and Austrians who joined the DNSAP party. Anyone who wore the chevron was nicknamed Winkeltrager, after the shape of the chevron.
