This Griswold US paratrooper drop bag was meant to hold a disassembled M1 Garand, an M1 Carbine, or a Thompson SMG. The guns were usually broken down into three sections: barrel, stock, and trigger group. Many complaints came from Normandy paratroopers who lost precious seconds removing their weapon from the 'Griswold Bag’ and assembling and loading the M-1 while enemy troops approached.
